Last weekend the third IFA World Tour Tournament of the year was held in Curitiba (Brasil). The 34rd Copa Duque de Punhobol was a big success on and off the court. In 8 categories nearly 50 teams competed for medals and IFA World Tour points.
In the mens category Clube Duque de Caxias not only won the final against SG Novo Hamburgo, but also took home 500 points for the World Tour ranking. Clube Merces won the bronze medal match against SOGIPA Porto Alegre.
With the 400 points for the second place, SG Novo Hamburgo regained the lead in the ranking in front of their national rivals Clube Duque de Caxias and Clube Merces.
The female final was a meeting between the two arch-rivals Sogipa Porto Alegre and Duque de Caxias, with the better end for the home team of Duque. The girls from SG Novo Hamburgo won the battle for the 3rd place.
Unfortunately the womens tournament couldn’t meet the requirements for an IFA 500 tournament, so we had to downgrade the competition to an IFA 250.
With the 250 points for Duque de Caxias, they are now tied for first place with Clube Manquehue (Chile). Sogipa is only 100 points behind the two leaders and will try to chase the leading teams next week at the Copa Vitor Nicolau Körbes in Novo Hamburgo.
On the 6th of April will also start the first tournament in Europe, which will take place in Karlsdorf (Germany).
